Milaur is a space created and curated to support the artistic endeavors of performer, choreographer and director Laura Cruz.

Laura Cruz happened to be put in ballet lessons when she was still a little girl, and as her personal, emotional, and physical development set start, dance was always by her side as a means of discipline, self-discovery, and exploration. After receiving professional dance training and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Conservatory of Dance at Purchase College, Laura remained faithful to dance as an ally throughout her lifetime journey thus far. However, after conducting extensive research and gaining experience within the constructed and institutionalized dance realm, a new chapter begins. Cruz's ethos is inherently based on a multidisciplinary approach, which is directly reflected in her body of work. To perform is to be seen, but to speak is to be heard. Within her research, dialogue and prompted discussions frame the scope of themes and nuances to be further explored physically, and the offering of literature, visual art, and cinematographic references is essential to the artist's construction of a work, but mainly the construction of relationships with those she is collaborating with.

During her academic path, Laura also pursued a minor in Art History as a means to foster her ever-intriguing curiosity for history, anthropology, sociology, and art. As artists and human beings, our inherent connection to our ancestry is undeniable, and becoming familiar with the history of those who came before us is fundamental to her artistic practice.

In an attempt to broaden horizons and create beyond confinements, Laura Cruz’s works rely on theatricality, dramaturgy, and gestural imagery to convey a universal environment that allows space for anxieties and desires that reside in our collective and individual subconscious. Cruz's works are innately feminine and explore the female experience, as well as its subjugation to inferiority and weakness.

In 2025, Laura brought Milaur to life in an attempt to share her inner conflicts, about the current state of the world and the female condition. Collaboration resides in the center of this collective and its aim is to continue to promote artistic partnerships for as long as it is standing.
